Back in 1974 a touring American Barbershop Chorus provided the inspiration to form the Great Western Chorus. The British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) was formed in the same year and the Great Western Chorus joined as one of the first few clubs
Since then, the Chorus has had huge success and travelled widely. We have won the BABS National Male Chorus Competition a record 10 times - always placing in the top 5 - and have represented the UK three times at the Barbershop Harmony Society international competition in Anaheim (2009), Kansas City (2011), and Orlando (2018).
Outside the Barbershop world, we have competed in various Eisteddfods, Music Festivals (winning the Mid-Somerset Male Voice Class seven times) and performed in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall (twice), The Theatre Royal Drury Lane, The London Coliseum, The Barbican, The Royal Festival Hall and more locally at the Bristol Beacon and Saint Georges.
